IRCTC common issues : Money deducted. Ticket not booked

Traveel advisor provides the clear idea about how your money is refunded for the failure transactions in IRCTC.

We always face the problem of slowness in IRCTC site. Sometime it happens when we enter all the details in Payment gateway. We may get the error 'Service unavailable'.

But by that time we would have got the SMS from the bank saying your money is debited for the txn. Dont be panic. Nothing to worry. IRCTC is a genius website which takes care of all there exception situations. IRCTC refunds the money correctlty for the tickets which are not booked.

Yes. Your money will be credited back if your ticket is not booked. If you face this situation first you need to check your Booking history to ensure your ticket is booked or not.

If it is booked no problem you can go ahead with your travel. If not, go to  
My tranactions > Refund status of Failure Transaction .

There your failed transactions are listed. The Pay status will be 'Payment initiated' against your transaction id. After 3 days this status will be changed to 'Payment settled' if your money is debited but ticket is not booked. 'Settlement failed' status will be shown if your money is not debited and ticket also not booked.

If you click on the link on Transaction Id you can get the details about refund in Refund status.

    1. Wait for 3-4 working days and money will be transferred or credited back into your account..

    1. Settlement requested means they have requested the bank to settle your money back to your bank account..this may vary from bank to bank and may take upto 3-4 working days...

  6. Details shows as : Settlement Failed Not Booked.
    But my money is debited and its been 17 days the amount has not been refunded.
    IRCTC shows as 'Payment Not Received From Bank"
    Bank confirmed that transaction was successful.

    Please let me knw how to proceed next .

    while booking in IRCTC website on date:09-07-2014 ticket not processed but money was deducted from my SBI DEBIT card.and the "Transaction No. For payment of IRCTC not processed . And also message came as "Thank you for using your SBI Debit card 519XXX1674 for a purchase worth Rs 342.49/- on POS 2002 at IRCTC txn# 418809663328

    I face the same problem after successful payment from my bank end when I came to irctc side it showing Payment Requested.Now want to book same ticket and I'm confused for booking. I same again or not .

  15. My Name is Gnanasambantham,
    I tried to book 2 train tickets on jan 3rd 2016 from (ERODE) to KANPUR for MARCH 1st 2016 Train name:RAPTISAKER EXPRESS Train no: 12512.HDFC netBanking enabled money Rs 1642 has been deducted from my account but tickets has not been booked.

    In irctc.co.in ...Refund Status tab shows
    transaction Id: 160038442497 Settlement Request ticket not booked HDFC BANK



    So, to whom I need to complaint to irctc or HDFC bank?


    Please do the needful to get refund the money total Rs.1642.90/-

    1. I got the same then i wrote to irctc here is the reply from irctc
      Dear Customer,


      We deeply regret for the inconvenience caused to you in this regard. As your payment status for TXN 0984583577 was not communicated by the Payment gateway in time, the ticket booking did not materialize. After reconciliation if the amount is found debited, the same will be processed at Payment Gateway for refund. We ensure that the refund will be made at the earliest.
